Experience the Future Today! AVEVA launches Cloud-enabled training environment, AVEVA Experience We are very pleased to announce the launch of our new online self-training service, AVEVA Experience. Like many self-training environments, it includes extensive e-learning documentation and videos, but what makes this service more interesting is that AVEVA Experience also offers access to Cloud-deployed versions of our software. This is AVEVA's first Cloud service offering, and we are excited that the first product to be made available is none other than the industry's most advanced 3D design solution, AVEVA Everything3D. The AVEVA Experience resources offer an introduction to AVEVA E3D, for current end-users of AVEVA PDMS. Because the software is in the Cloud, users do not need to have it installed on their computers; they just need an Internet connection. This lack of set-up is an ideal opportunity for licensed PDMS users to see quickly and easily the advantages of AVEVA E3D at first-hand. Once registered with the AVEVA Experience service, users will receive free access to the online training content, as well as up to 20 hours of access to AVEVA E3D itself, which will be streamed from the Amazon Cloud. Access to AVEVA E3D enables users to put into practice the principles introduced via text and video in the e-learning environment. A training set-up window within AVEVA E3D enables users to toggle between AVEVA Experience and AVEVA E3D as they work through the various tutorials. The only limitation is that this AVEVA E3D access may not be used for production. The AVEVA Experience service will expand over time to provide access to Cloud-hosted versions of many of our applications. So what does this launch represent in terms of AVEVA's general expansion into Cloud solutions? Cutting through the hype Like any new technology, the Cloud has generated a great deal of hype and excitement. The first demonstration of AVEVA E3D running in the Cloud generated considerable buzz at the 2014 AVEVA World Summit in Berlin, and we were inundated with requests from customers wanting to try it. However, this was an early test version, and at AVEVA we know our customers need rock-solid solutions on which they can run their businesses. So rather than simply compounding the hype around the Cloud, we have taken the time to do detailed Proof of Concept projects, carefully reviewing the issues a Cloud approach raises and evaluating ways to maximise its business value to the capital engineering industries. That optimisation work will continue, but we recognised that hands-on experience by everyday users would significantly help to prove the effectiveness of this new technology. Our new AVEVA Experience self-training environment will offer the ideal way to allow our customers to both familiarise themselves with our extensive portfolio, and see at first hand how Cloud technology could benefit them. Those benefits could be extensive, as Cloud computing offers significant commercial advantages. Hardware, software and middleware costs can be reduced. Software as a Service (SaaS) reduces configuration and customisation costs. Fixes and patches can be applied automatically and system administration costs are slashed because the burden shifts onto the software provider. And because software can be consumed 'on demand', users only pay for what they use. As a result, IT departments within both the Owner Operator (OO) and the EPC communities are eager to see robust and practical Cloud deployment of their essential software solutions. AVEVA Experience also provides an opportunity to meet this need. (continued)
